Responsibilities

1. Clarify Goals & Design Direction (5% of time)

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders (Product, Design, Growth) through discussions and brainstorming sessions
  • Act as a reliable communication consultant and propose content design solutions aligned with business goals and brand voice
  • Collaborate with Product Designers to ensure copy and visual design create cohesive experiences

2. Research (10% of time)

  • Conduct necessary research, including collecting usage data, analyzing user journeys, or conducting interviews and surveys to identify issues and opportunities for content improvements
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and widely adopted UX writing methodologies
  • Validate copy effectiveness through behavioral data (Hotjar, UXCam, Amplitude) and user feedback

3. Information Architecture (IA) & Interaction Support (10% of time)

  • Collaborate with Product Designers on Information Architecture (IA), User Flows, and Wireframes to ensure clear communication structure
  • Help ensure logical information hierarchy and seamless navigation through strategic content placement
  • Challenge designs/features when communication complexity signals UX problems

4. Content Design (50% of time)

4.1 In-app Content (UX Writing / Product Content)

  • Define appropriate tone of voice tailored to target audience based on market and user research
  • Design UI content: labels, buttons, menus, error messages, tooltips, notifications, onboarding flows, CTAs, empty states, success messages
  • Select precise terminology and help structure in-product content to enable intuitive navigation and smooth information flow
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, inconsistencies, or redundancies in language and messaging, and make necessary adjustments
  • Write copy that accelerates merchant decision-making and reduces cognitive load

4.2 Content Style Guide & Governance

  • Define and maintain content style guides in collaboration with stakeholders (Growth, Design, Product)
  • Ensure brand style guides are applied appropriately and consistently across all product touchpoints
  • Create content templates, copy component libraries, and messaging frameworks
  • Enable Product Designers and PMs to write on-brand copy for routine contexts
  • Manage in-app content systems and localization strategy

  • Copy guides, reassures, and builds confidence

 

5. AI-Powered Content Operations (10% of time)

  • Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, etc.) to draft, refine, and scale content production across three products
  • Experiment with AI workflows to handle UX copy efficiently—you'll work with our AI engineers or source your own tools to find what works best
  • Apply human judgment to ensure AI-generated content has appropriate nuance, cultural sensitivity, and merchant empathy
  • Share successful AI workflows with Product Designers to help them generate on-brand copy for routine contexts
  • The key challenge: Handle UX copywriting for 3 products effectively and efficiently without compromising quality—AI is your productivity multiplier

6. Outcome-Focused Project Participation (10% of time)

  • Drive or participate in projects that create direct business impact through improved communication
  • Define success metrics (comprehension scores, feature adoption, support ticket reduction) before writing copy
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Growth to coordinate messaging across feature launches
  • Present work to stakeholders and adapt based on data and feedback
  • Follow through post-launch to validate whether copy achieved intended outcomes
  • Example projects you might drive:
    • "Reduce merchant setup confusion by 40% through clearer onboarding copy"
    • "Increase feature adoption by 25% through improved in-app guidance"
    • "Decrease support tickets by 30% through better error messaging"

7. Process Improvement & Capability Development (5% of time)

  • Participate in process improvement meetings
  • Contribute to workflow optimization within content design and cross-functional collaboration
  • Conduct necessary workshops/reviews to improve cross-functional content quality
  • Recommend training programs to strengthen team content skills and professional expertise
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in content creation (Content Marketing, UX Writing, Technical Writing, Product Copywriting, or related content role)
  • Portfolio/work samples showing strategic content thinking, not just execution
  • Native or near-native fluency required (this role requires nuanced language judgment)
  • Strong writing skills and reading comprehension
  • IELTS 7.5+ equivalent or demonstrable fluency
  • Agile understanding: Familiarity with Agile product development/design processes and working in iterative, sprint-based environments
  • UX fundamentals: Understanding factors that influence user experience, including psychology and user behavior
  • Language mastery: Strong knowledge of language principles, grammar rules, and writing conventions
  • Content design principles: Familiarity with content design principles for web and mobile applications
  • Product & industry context: Understanding of product functionality and the eCommerce industry
  • Brand voice systems: Experience building style guides, content governance, or voice/tone frameworks
  • Exceptional writing: Ability to communicate content clearly and in a user-friendly way, aligned with brand tone and voice
  • Content consistency: Ability to maintain consistency in language, grammar, and tone across communication channels
  • AI collaboration: Ability to work with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, or similar) to enhance productivity and handle multi-product workload efficiently; willingness to experiment with new tools and work with AI engineers to explore automation possibilities
  • Design tool proficiency: Basic proficiency in Figma to input content into UI designs and create content components
  • Analytics awareness: Basic knowledge of user behavior tracking tools such as Hotjar, UXCam, Microsoft Clarity, Amplitude, and Google Analytics (GA)
  • Content systems thinking: Ability to create templates, component libraries, and frameworks that enable others
  • Outcome thinking: Ability to define content success metrics and validate effectiveness through data
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Can explain content decisions to designers, PMs, and stakeholders clearly
